This
Villa and its guest cottage, nestled in the lovely lower-Chianti
countryside amongst rolling hills of vineyards, olive groves
and cypress trees, is strategically located halfway between
Florence and Rome. It is the lovingly-renovated property of
an Italian architect and his American wife. From the villa,
walking distance from the village of Palazzone (San Casciano
dei Bagni, province of Siena), it is less than an hour drive
to the spectacular towns of Orvieto, Todi, Perugia, Pienza,
Città della Pieve, Siena, Montepulciano, Cortona, Bagni Vignoni
and many others you can discover on your own. This Villa is
an easy 90 drive (A1 highway) from airports in Rome and Florence
and also 15 minutes from the city of Chiusi, from where trains
part for all major destinations.
The
Villa accepts max 8 persons
The main house (approx 200 sqm) is furnished in a casual
country style. The ground floor has a large living area with

with a dishwasher, fridge with a spacious freezer, oven and
an American coffee maker. On the same floor there is a storage
room, a double bedroom with fan, wardrobe and bedside tables,
a bathroom with bath and its shower, and a small single bedroom.
Most of the furniture is antique. Connected to the house is
a small laundry room with washing machine and a sink. The master
bedroom on the floor above is furnished with Liberty furniture,
and has a king size bed, a private bathroom, ceiling fan and
a veranda .Next to the master suite is a bedroom with a pair
of twin beds and a bathroom. All bedroom windows are equipped
with bug screens.
The
guest cottage (approx 40 sqm), very close to the main
house, is a large open space with a living area, a queen bed
area and a private bathroom with a shower.
A lovely new private pool is located in the midst of an olive
grove, overlooking vineyards, forests and the distant towers
of the medieval town of Citta' della Pieve.
There is also dining porch off the guesthouse and several furnished
living areas in the gardens around the villa.
Thermal spas and beauty treatment centers abound.
The charming historic town of San Casciano dei Bagni (5 miles
away) has a thermal, hot water spa with mud and mineral water
treatment, both in the countryside and at the recently opened
and luxurious Terme di Medici.
One can go horseback riding in the stables at nearby Celle sul
Rigo mountain biking or hiking through the Tuscan hills, or
take the train to see the splendors of Rome and Florence and
the many jewels in between. Sarteano (8 miles away) is another
famous spot given its cool mountains air and lovely fresh mineral
water pool, not to mention the many establishments in Chianciano.
There are many superior restaurants in the area serving some
of the local Tuscan specialties, including the "ribollita" soup
(vegetables and bread) and the "bici all'aglione" (homemade
spaghetti made of water and flour in a tomato garlic sauce).
Be sure to top it off with local extra virgin olive oil and
Chianti wines!
