La
Piana is a wonderful villa set on a landscaped position dominating
Montichiello and Pienza whose territory forms part of the artistic,
natural and cultural park of the Val d'Orcia. The history of Pienza
(or città di Pio), few km far, is closely linked to the
great humanist pope Pius II who transformed in 1458 this ancient
town and his birth place into a perfect example of architecture
and urban design. Judging by the attention paid to it today, the
ambitious project was a crowning success, attracting visitors
from home and abroad. The Commune of Pienza includes the castle
of Monticchiello and other south jewels of Siena which were significant
throughout the medieval period.
The
Commune has retained his prevalently agricultural character linked
to the wines, most typical and well known product of his area,
and particularly to the production of famous cheeses.
In villa La Piana, landscaped garden and a covered patio afford
guest private areas in which to relax and enjoy unforgettable
dinners outside. Landscaped grounds and natural beauty, stretching
as far as the eye can see, surround the bean-shaped swimming
pool.
The
house , 450 m2, charmingly decorated with beautiful valued antique
furniture , is on two levels. Ground floor :from different halls
you get into the main sitting room with a large fire place and
a bar corner.
On the other side there is the fully equipped kitchen with fridge,
freezer, dishwasher and oven, a larder room, a bathroom with shower
and washing machine. From the internal stair you climb to the
first floor where you find a second living room with fire place,
four double bedrooms, one bathroom with tub, one bathroom with
shower and a small equipped landscaped terrace. The owners live
in the annexed dependence and can help you with extras such as
daily cleaning and cooking . Pets are not allowed.
